A personal Message from Dr. Angie Averill
Hi, I’m Dr. Angie Averill, a general and cosmetic dentist. I’m thrilled to announce the opening of my boutique-style dental office, Marvin Dental Studio and Implant Center. With nearly a decade of clinical experience in hospital, clinic, and private dental settings, I am excited to share my unique approach of personalized dental care to our community.
At Marvin Dental Studio & Implant Center, I embrace a functional dentistry approach, free from the constraints of corporate pressures. My practice is dedicated to providing superb, individualized care that focuses on whole-body health and wellness.
Throughout my career, I have seen too many patients trapped in the outdated “drill, fill, and bill” model, where procedures are driven by insurance incentives rather than patient needs. My philosophy is centered on treating the individual, taking into account their lifestyle and overall well-being.

Dr. Angie Dunkling Averill, DMD
Dr. Angie Dunkling Averill offers a unique, health-focused approach to dentistry in Marvin, NC, emphasizing the connection between oral health and overall well-being. Raised in Vermont in a family of dentists, Dr. Averill was drawn to the field from an early age. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology with honors from the University of Vermont and a DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Her comprehensive training continued with a General Practice Residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center, where she expanded her skills across a broad spectrum of dental procedures.
Dr. Averill is committed to integrating the latest dental technologies and methodologies into her practice, focusing on biomimetic dentistry to enhance both aesthetic outcomes and durability. Her patient-centered practice is dedicated to educating individuals on how their oral health significantly affects their overall health, and she aims to provide care that extends well beyond traditional dental services.
When she’s not at the clinic, Dr. Angie Averill enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Dr. Gordon Averill, and their three children, Oliver, Eloise, and Archie. The family is deeply involved in the Marvin community, participating in local events and cultivating strong community ties. Dr. Averill’s holistic view of health and her commitment to community engagement are fundamental to her both personally and professionally.
Dr. Gordon Averill, DMD
Dr. Gordon Averill is a lighthearted and compassionate dentist, dedicated to providing the highest quality of specialized dental care in Marvin, NC. His approach combines cutting-edge techniques with a commitment to patient comfort and comprehensive treatment planning.
Dr. Averill earned his degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he was recognized for his exceptional chairside manner with an award. His education continued at UCLA School of Dentistry, where he received an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) certificate. During his time at UCLA, Dr. Averill gained extensive experience in implantology, cosmetic dentistry, and crown and bridge techniques. His passion for dentistry is driven by the joy and satisfaction of enhancing patients’ smiles, deeply believing in the transformative power of a smile to brighten not just a face, but an entire day.
Always striving to stay at the forefront of dental advancements, Dr. Averill has completed numerous prestigious continuing education courses and remains engaged in learning the most innovative practices in dentistry. This commitment ensures that he offers the most current and effective treatments available, enhancing both the functional and aesthetic outcomes for his patients.
Outside the dental office, Dr. Gordon Averill is an adventurer at heart with a profound love for the outdoors. He has explored various cultures and landscapes across Europe and Asia. He enjoys cycling, attending live music events, and sampling the local cuisine. Along with his wife, Dr. Angie Averill, and their three children, Oliver, Eloise, and Archie, plus their lab mix, Ziggy, Dr. Averill’s adventurous spirit and dedication to his family and community are as integral to his character as his professional expertise.
